Etching Engraving Bernard Avec Suesse by Jeanne Poulet

2009 The Scarab Club Exhibit - Women Image Women
Curators: Marilyn Zimmerman/Gail Malli Mack Bernard and Bernadette avec Suesse:
An Unprotected Journey by Jeanne Poulet
Email: pouletwaynearts@att.net

Bernard and Bernadette with blank faces may look well
But are not showing the multiple infractions of their rights
Imposed by the surrounding factions of their youth
Split in two and geared apart by hurtful wedge

Blown out of proportion and misplaced along the way
They now twist through the remaining years of their passage
A mixture of immobility and pain through their kidneys
Helped by alcohol, drugs and any other retardation

To eliminate the discomfort of being alive
Memories jabbing inadequacies and differences
Through gapping holes of misuse and ignorance
They grind to a halt with escape from the scene

Their features show a mixture of races
The children discriminated brought forth
And uncared for by a mother like-person
Who carried the seeds of destruction with tenacity!

The children unwanted through forced intercourse
She was forever tormented by the interruption to her life
The very hand that stroked her also gave her pain
And made her return to the vengeance that once was hers

This upheaval now resides forever in their bowels
An accumulation that blows their navels out of size
And passes through the urethra of their body
Releasing a poison to deaden the nerves
And make life on earth possible
